The initial production of the Chrysler Windsor started in 1939 and continued until 1961 (in Canada, until 1966), with a break between 1942 and 1946 due to the war. When production was restarted, the Windsor made up over 60% of total sales for Chrysler.
This car was advertised as a six-passenger car with bench seats both front and rear. This two ton beast is backed up by a 5.4 litre V8 engine to ensure incredibly smooth driving conditions. Throughout its exceptional seven-decade existence, this car has lost none of its prowess. It rightly demands attention from every passer-by.
There were many changes to the Windsor throughout the years of production. All Chrysler cars went through a complete restyle in 1955 and the Windsor was no exception. In 1956 we saw the introduction of the ‘Forward Look’ restyling with a tasteful facelift centred around the grille changes. The two-piece grille of 1955 was redesigned into a one-piece unit with a more seamless look and finish.
